Speech Team Individuals To Compete for IHSA
Seven members of the Maine West Speech Team qualified for IHSA Sectional Competition on Feb. 7. This year's district meet was held at West Leyden High School.

The students who qualified are Lisa Marquette '81 in dramatic interpretation, Andy McCune '82 in extemporaneous speaking, Sue Kadlec '82 in both humorous interpretation and declamation, Laura Meisterheim '82 in original oration, Pam Peca '81 in prose reading, Lisa Ochal '82 in verse reading, and Jim Teevans '81 and Lisa Marquette in humorous duet acting.

 The above students traveled to Downers Grove South High school on Saturday, Feb. 14, for the sectional competition. At sectionals, Sue Kadlec qualified for State finals in humorous interpretation, and Pam Peca qualified in prose reading. These two girls traveled to Bloomington High School on Saturday, Feb. 21, to compete in the State Finals.

The following weekend the S.C.O.T.I.E. tournament will be held at Northern Illinois University. The Speech Champions of Tournaments Individual Events meet will be attended by 16 Speech Team members; 11 in competition and 5 student judges. Students qualified for this tournament by placing first at any previous speech meet in their event.
