Job on the 'Horizon'

BY LISA REESE

Where can a person work where they can feel the excitement of crowds of people have fun? Or see concerts and DePaul games for free? You guessed it, the Rosemont Horizon, and I work there.

I work for a company called Araserv. Araserv is in charge of selling food, novelties, and parking the cars. My job is a concessionist, so I serve food and drinks to people.

Although I do work in the Horizon, it is impossible for me to get tickets. It is also impossible for me to get anyone in except myself. So, if you know anyone who works at the Horizon, don't even bother to ask them to get you tickets, because they have just as good of a chance to get good tickets as you.
Of course, since I do work at almost all of the events at the Hori-zon, I do not need a ticket to see the games or concerts. It's pretty hard to watch the event and work at the same time, though, so I'm not always lucky.

Working there is a definite experience. I've learned to do many new skills. I've learned to change Pepsi and C02 tanks, how to repair a broken french fry machine, and how to cook hamburgers, french fries, hot dogs, and pizzas to perfection. How to sweep up popcorn that's been stepped on and smooshed to the floor and many skills that might come in handy sometime in my life are others.

The best part about working at the Horizon is that I meet many interesting people every time I work - not just the customers, but my fellow employees also.
