Boys' Gymnastics Meeting Competitive Competition
The Maine West gymnastics team opened its season on Saturday, Mar. 14, at the Lake Park Invitational. The varsity team placed second out of six schools competing.

Several varsity members won individual medals in their events. Kevin McCarthy won fifth place in vaulting; Wayne Fite placed first in still rings; Tim Harris placed fourth in floor exercise, second place in rings, and tied for second place in vaulting, giving him fourth place in the all-around totals. Mike McCabe placed fifth		 in rings, third in parallel bars, second place in all other events, and second place in the all-around total.

The varsity was less successful on Tuesday, Mar. 17, when they were beaten by both Glenbard East and Conant, both non-conference schools. The varsity also lost their first home meet to Niles West on Friday, Mar. 20. Tim Harris and Mike McCabe placed third and first respectively in the all-around totals at the home meet. Harris also placed first in floor and vaulting, and McCabe placed first in parallel bars.
