Boys' Baseball Team Starting To Shape Up

Losing eight regular varsity seniors this year, the Warriors varsity baseball team will be looking for winning combinations on the field. Coach Al Carstens whose teams include two conference championships in the last two years commented, "We are a young and inexperienced team."

There are only five returning lettermen: Dan Rorer, Scott Hackbarth, Ron Wastyn, Max Semler, and Jerry Kleiner. The competition for all nine spots is up for grabs even where returning lettermen are concerned.

"After coming off a 24-3 record last year, our kids have a lot of weight on their shoulders," stated Coach Carstens. With only one cut left, senior members include Dan Rorer, Ron Wastyn, Max Semler,
Bill Swanson, Al Bally, Jerry Kleiner, Dean Vaia, Bob Seaholm, Scott Hackbarth, Scott Langlie, and Mark Garesche.

Junior members include Ken Edwards, Bill Dolan, John Kyriakopoulos, Sam Pappas, Wayne Silicani, Frank Mustari, Bill Nicholas, Dan La Rocca, Tim Opfer, Rob McAbee, George Fritzler, Jim Carrell, Ed Mazer, and Dave Matkovic. The pitchers seem to be limited with Bill Dolan, Ken Edwards, Jim Carrell, Ron Wastyn, Max Semler, and Dan Rorer heading up the pitching staff.

Coach Carstens said, "We will have a very quick team and will orientate our game plan that way; however, we will need excellent defense along with the pitching pulling through. With this we should have a respectable season."
