VOL. XXIV, NO. 3
Athletes deserve recognition
This year most of Maine West's fall sports teams finished the season with a better than .500 record. Nearly all the teams improved upon last year's records.
We should be proud of this fact and the athletes who put hours of dedication and hard work into the sport each day. They made many sacrifices in order to do well in their sport and fulfill goals.
Their devotion and perseverance have paid off in many ways. The most apparent manifestation of their preparation is our Volleyball team accumulating its best record (35-5), and finishing third in state competition this year.
Our Cross Country team placed fourth in state competition, missing a third place trophy by only two points. Individual stars were Tricia Kiraly '85 and Bridget Boyajian '83, who placed third and sixth respectively in the race.
Scott Wastyn '83 also made his way to the state golf tournament as an individual example of our fine athletic program here at Maine West.
We should be proud of these teams and their accomplishments. They have set a high standard for the upcoming seasons.
