Class of '83 looks back
on memorable times at West
I, Robert Aguilar, remember the special moments I spent with all my friends at Maine West. I found it easier to make friends than I thought since I came from another city and didn't know anyone. I would especially like to thank Kim Roames, Cindy Trost and Tammy Fuller for being there when I needed them.
I, Pete Ahlman, remember seeing dead things in Jim Adomak's locker.
I, Dan Allen, remember when they closed Maine North and sent me to West.
I, Don Armstrong, remember being picked on as a freshman and having a load of homework.
I, Christy Arnold, remember my sophomore year with Sheree Hussar and other friends at the Des Flames Theater, especially during the movie "Final Countdown."
I, Rick Bahr, remember sitting in lunch 5b with Tony Bonilla, Bill Walters, Judy Proctor, Bob Page, Karyn Stein, and all the other "Spikes," having a great time eating bagels and Pop Tarts.
I, Jennifer Ballee, remember seeing Mr. Martin whipping off his glasses and jumping over the desk in class.
I, Jane Barringer, remember last years' Senior Prom with Dave Gad and all the wild times with Sheree Hussar.
I, Jeff Baute, remember Mr. Frey and all the good times I had with him.
I, Julie Becker, remember the time I had to go through the boy's locker room at Evanston, the early mornings with Coach Jannusch and the frosh BB team, the night I made Pom‑Pon and all the routines we messed up, and all the "great" times in math with M.F., D.D., and Jeffery Micheal Joseph Addante.
I, Lori Bending, remember when President Reagan came to school during his political campaign my sophomore year.
I, Mike Bennett, remember the first time I saw Lisa Frederick. My eyes fell to the floor, I knew this was the one. We've been going out since sophomore year, May 20.
I, Vicki Beres, remember all the fun times in chemistry with C.B. and M.D. always goofing up the labs.
I, Sarah Blew, remember how much fun it was to be a junior and senior leader. Thanks, Ms. T.
I, Mathew Boemmel, remember my first day at Maine West last year.
I, Tony Bonilla, remember Maine North, the memories; the good times and the not so good. Also Maine West; the school that pulled a close second to the "Black and Gold" but most of all the theater (both Maine North and Maine West); its been really good to me. Thanks.
I, Bridget Boyajian, remember finally getting to know my best friend, Lori Bending.
I, Candy Braid, remember Mr. Howdle's chemistry class with V.B., D.D., M.D., P.A. and K.D. (How! wished for an experiment that worked), Jr. Leaders with K.D. (How did Miss Tipton put up with us), playing quarters in lunch, and meeting my best buddy, Boo‑Boo.
I, Brigitte Brand, remember Elal, Madge, Milly, Allen, Rosenary, Helen, Flo, and of course Howard; the beginning of a wonderful year.
I, Karen Brausam, remember the good times I had at Maine North and then going to a new school for two years which was Maine West. I didn't like it at first, but now I do because I met more friends. I also remember the good times I had last year in gym with my friends.
I, Sue Cieszkowski, remember all the times I've shared with the most special person of my life. I have memories that will never fade from my mind.
I, Bob Condon, remember that every year I went to a different high school.
I, Carmen Covalschi, remember the good times I had in French class. Mr. Holbrook made French seem like a hobby rather than a course. I know I'll miss his great sense of humor, his sound effects and imitations. The entire class burst into tears of laughter when he said something funny, or told one of his stories.
I, Kristen Davis, remember all the hard work and long hours of practice Brigitte Brand and I put put in to try and make every show we were in successful. Thanks, Brig.
I, Laura Denk, remember Spring Break '83 in Daytona Beach with Mara, Gina, Maureen and Patti going out with the gang at Daytona Inn and having the best time ever.
I, Dan Derlis, remember the honor and glory it brought to me to walk down E‑wing with some M‑Club members, such as Scott Wastyn, Scott Keane, David Gaswell and Jim Kapotas.
I, Linda Diezel, remember meeting the most terrific guy ever, Chris Walsh. I remember all the great times we had and will have together.
I, Chris Dreys, remember all the rowdy times we had in Class Council with Roger and Miss Hays.
I, Ellen Duntemann, remember when Marsha Humbert and I started our chemistry lab on fire sophomore year by mixing chemicals we were not supposed to mix, and all the excruciating cross country practices we had. It was all worth it.
I, Ed Buc, remember going to Springfield junior year for Youth Appreciation week with the history classes.
I, Peggy Erbach, remember when Ellie Duntemann took off her shoes in freshman biology to show the class how wide she could spread her toes.
I, Vivien Eschenbach, remember when Ellie fell down the stairs when her knee got stuck in the banister.
I, Barb Fabbri, remember Spring Break '83 with Sheree, meeting Eric, Jeff and T.J. at Daytona Beach and finding out they only live 20 minutes from Des Plaines.
I, Margaret Faustmann, remember meeting people in government, my first Monty Python movie, hockey games with Julie and Ellie, math with J.B., J.A. and D.D., not watching movies, hanging on to walls, Girls' Choice, Valentine's Day, Stevie's 'marriage', gym with SM., T.R., RB., and PG. (all of the best!).
I, James Finnerty, remember aviation club when John Goeke got sick just after take off, raking leaves for extra credit, Ellie and the hoops, and meeting Debbie Harry at lunch.
I, Suzanne Ford, remember all the football games, especially before and after when I stood out there in the cold waiting for the game to end so we could go out and have a good time.
I, Lisa Fredrick, remember May 20 of my sophomore year when Mike Bennett asked me out. He made me the happiest girl in the world. I know we will be together forever.
I, Bill Friday, remember the day I was elected Most Valuable Player because I ran four events and won them all; the 2 mile relay, half mile, mile and the mile relay. The crowd was cheering.
I, Linda Fridley, remember our entire English lIlA class (except for one person), gathering at the Outside Eating Area; and I remember making Smores with Carmel bars in A.P. Chemistry.
I, Karen Harris, remember my athletics. All the friends I've made, all the interesting times I've had, including going out for pizza with the swimmers, fencing parties and Wisconsin in my junior year and Bad minski.
I, Shelly Garlick, remember when Ellie D. blew up the sink in chemistry.
I, Cynthia Georgoulis, remember all the times Jennifer Blomquist and I got in trouble in Concert Choir. And all the great times I had in second period PAR.
I, John Goetschi, remember airplane bottles in the lighting booth while working on shows.
I, John Gross, remember the crowd cheering as our band was doing a tribute to Led Zeppelin for a rock‑n‑roll show.
I, Eric Gustafson, remember how excited I was to start high school three years ago . . . and now I realize how dumb that sounded in the first place! I also remember how in the past year WMTH has enjoyed the most popularity in a long time!
I, Michael Hachenberg, remember Franny's veins sticking out when he got irked!
I, Kathie Halpin, remember Nanette Spina for the real her, kind, caring and understaning. Never thinking of herself, but always of what she could do for a friend. Thanks Nanette, you're the best.
I, Karen Henke, remember all the wonderful and exciting times during my two Cross Country seasons.
I, Mike Herriges, remember the great Halloween party at Eva Olah's house.
I, Marsha Humbert, remember the day that Ellie Duntemann and I started the chemistry lab on fire, sophomore year. I especially remember how fast Mr. Stenoien came running to the back of the room, and how he never let us out of his sight again.
I, Dan Hunt, remember the people I've met, and the good times I've had.
I, Bob Jacobsen, remember the people I have met in the last four years, having a good time.
I, Randy Johnson, remember trying to please the entire school with a funny column in each issue of the WESTERNER.
I, Sandi Jones, remember the dances, the football games and all the friends I've made these past four years.
I, Mary Just, remember this year for its outstanding year in sports. I will always remember the volleyball and basketball teams going downstate in the same year.
I, Jim Karr, remember the blank and dead expressions of my friends faces in morning PAR before homeroom on Monday mornings.
I, Leslie Kerr, remember all the dances and all of my good friends that I made these past four years and of course morning PAR.
I, Mary King, remember coming to Maine West as a freshman with such things as freshmen orientation and the first day of school. l thought Maine West was a jungle, but actually it's a home away from home.
