Choral Concert includes
District 62 junior highs
The Fall Choral Concert, which features the concert choir and other choral ensembles under the direction of Mr. Paul Magnusson, starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Maine West Theater on October 23.

Groups participating in this year's Choral Festival include Concert Choir, Combined Girls Chorus/Glee, Choraliers, Boys Chorus, and a Combined Junior High Choir led by guest conductor. Dr. Walter Gamble, chairman of the music department at Glenbrook South High School. Schools participating in the Junior High choir number will include Algonquin, Chippewa, Iroquois and others.

Mr. Magnusson commented, "The benefits of a festival such as this are many. For one thing, it gives all our students a chance to combine their voices into a large choral ensemble. It also gives them a chance to work with a fine choral conductor and to give each other a chance to listen to one another perform. And of course, we hope that they will want to continue singing in one of our choirs when they come to Maine West."
The practice that goes into the perfection of the combined numbers includes the time spent in class and an afternoon practice between the high school students and the junior high students.

The program itself will consist of various types and styles of music from classical to jazz. Mr. Magnusson states, "I would encourage everyone to come to the program for they will hear some of the finest singing to ever take place in the Maine West Theater."

Prior to this year the cost for the hour long concert was 75 cents per student, but this year the admission is a student ID.
