Gets Gold Key

"You learn a lot about other high schools around the country, and I was happy to observe that Maine West ranks with the very best as to curriculum, teachers, facilities, and standards," were Gary Schliechert's '62, comments after attending the National High School institute at Northwestern university from July 2‑August 5.

Gary was one of the 96 top ranking students from 25 states. Most of them were National Honor students.

Intensive study in the engineering, electrical, chemical, industrial, mechanical, civil, and nuclear fields made up the works of the institute.

For his outstanding achievements in the program, Gary received one of the highly prized Gold Key awards. Only 15 from the group qualified for this honor.
