Staff Adopts Editorial Policy

All newspapers have an editorial policy ‑ a guide which determines what shall be printed and the manner in which it shall be written. The Westerner is no exception. All reporters and staff members must meet the standards of our policy.

1. Reporting the news and editorializing in the Westerner will be free of any and all group pressures from students or faculty.

2. The primary reporting responsibility of the Westerner will be to Maine West. News of other schools will be included only if it is of interest or pertaining to Maine West.

3. One full page in each issue will be devoted to complete sports coverage.

4. Realizing that some matters might come up that are better not publicized, the Westerner may choose not to cover certain items in the interest of keeping school spirit and prestige high.

Articles appearing in the Westerner are not censored by the administration, for it up to the staff and the advisor to determine what is printed.
