Greek Letter Thanks GAA

Above is the photograph of a letter from Greece. This letter was sent to Miss Kathryn Pierce, acting chairman of the girls' physical education department, and the GAA from the students at the Domestic Science school in Castania, Greece. The letter is a thank‑you note for the $25 gift the girls received from the GAA through CARE last year. Below is the translation.

January 16, 1961
Our town is on the top of a mountain in Corinth and is called Castania. The town has nothing of beauty except the Domestic Science school which opened in 1960. There are 30 boarding students, and many times during our free hours from classes we have nothing to do without a game to play. A week ago, thanks to you and to the fine basketballs and baseballs you sent, we wait anxiously for the hours in shop to pass so we can play ball. We thank you very much and wish that God will grant you, and your children if you have them, health, joy, and good fortune.
