Joyce Directs V‑Show

There she is‑celery in one hand and that clipboard o f messy papers which she calls her "V"‑show file in the other‑Joyce McGarvey‑Vshow directer‑the oriental looking girl with the frequent smile.

The one who always seems to look so distracted. This is the Joyce McGarvey most people know, the one who's been in Student Council, Class Council, Girls' club council, Spanish club, art club, Junior and Senior leaders, and active in church. She's the one who caused all the commotion at the Aquiana show when she became sick and everyone had to cover the loss.

Most people don't know that she's one of the most prolific artists at Maine West, or that art is her main concern and the largest part of her future. She plans on furthering her art training at Illinois State Normal next fall, and someday hopes to go abroad for more study.

Even fewer people know the homey part of Joyce‑the one that likes to sew and fix up cars. This is a girl who enjoys experimenting with food‑finding new recipes for things like egg‑nog or new combinations like champagne sherbert and lemon cake. . . or the one who likes to watch Twilight Zone while eating pizza and garlic bread with friends and strumming a ukelele.

This is Joyce McGarvey talented, serious, and responsible with everything she undertakes. . . fun to be with. . . the kind of person with whom you've promised yourself to become better acquainted.
