Students planning to go to college in the near future would do well to consider the problem of admission rather than the selection of the college. The competition for acceptance is becoming keener all the time.
High school students should take the stiffest academic program they can successfully carry. This usually means courses in science, mathematics, foreign language, social studies, and English; students are advised to strive constantly for good grades. Sound planning would mean including time for considerable reading.

The student who has foresight would also recognize that the qualities looked for by college admission officers include diligence, intellectual curiosity, initiative, honesty, and reliability.
Some pertinent points in the admission question are that the student should realize that he may not be admitted to the college of his first choice. Therefore, information should be obtained from a second and third choice so he can plan accordingly. The student should apply for admission to college late in the junior year, or early in his senior year.
