WEST'S FRESHMAN track team placed fifth out of a field of 12 in the ninth annual North Shore invitational at Evanston's fieldhouse last Saturday. Allan Eyre took the Warriors only first with a shot of 42 feet 10 3/4 inches.

A FIFTEENTH in the state was captured by the gymnasts on March 16, 17. Bill Downing soloed his way through the meet for the Warriors, taking third place on the tumbling event which was good for eight points.

COACHES Nyren and Schmidt had an awe‑inspiring total of 90 candidates try out for the frosh baseball teams.

FORTY sophomores, under mentors Kennedy and Hommerding, turned out for the underclass team.

UNDER Coach Zucarrini, the frosh‑soph hole‑hounds started whacking away Tuesday, March 20. The squad is made up of about 30, mostly frosh.

THE VARSITY cindermen seem to have run into a slump. They have dropped two dual meets, placed third in a quadrangular, and lost the Interim crown to Glenbard.

M‑CLUB pledges were glad to see last Tuesday roll around when they finally ended their initiation duties and were accepted as full members.

THINGS HAVE been getting pretty rough in the indoor track with four teams practicing at the same time. The warm weather last Monday got the racketeers out on the courts under the watchful eye of Coach Kearns.

THE FIRST winning season in the three years of West's existence was chalked up this year. Last year the record showed 11‑13 and the year before that 10‑10. This year it was 15‑6 with third place in the conference.

CHAMPS in the weightlifting intramurals competition were Jon Lenard for the sophs with Dan Johansson runner‑up. John Fowler was first for the frosh with Mike Noessen, second. Yesterday the juniors had their run‑offs while the seniors will compete next Tuesday.
