The Maine West trackmen finish up their indoor season tomorrow as they travel to compete in the Oak Park relays. This meet is equivalent to the indoor state meet. Seventy‑two: schools competed in the meet last year. Maine West finished third in its class.
After this meet the Warriors will go outside to practice. The cindermen, who look forward to a tough outdoor season, will average two meets a week.
At the conference meet held at the Morton West fieldhouse two weeks ago, the varsity trackmen accumulated 20 19/20 points to give them fifth place, just one point from the fourth spot. Vie Oakley, running the 440‑yard dash, was the only Warrior to grab a first place, while Lee Wolf and the fourlap relay team came in second. A third place came from the mile relay team, and Ray Leonardson placed fourth in both the broad jump and 440‑yard dash. Don Nixon, along with four other pole‑vaulters, placed fifth. Dan Rowe with four other high jumpers copped a fifth place.
