39 Receive History Honors;
Top 9 Compete for $25 Bond

Competing for the "Best American History Student of 1962" are Kenneth Crepas '64, Rick Geertz '63, Mary Ann Gembicki '64, Ingrid Gustus '63, Carl Jefferson '63, Harold Landem '64, and Sue MacHattie '63, who are the seven highest scorers on the qualifying test given April 2. The winner of the final essay test to be given the first week after spring vacation will receive a $25 savings bond and the National Historical society pin at the annual banquet to be held May 7.

Also winning history honors are the 35 highest scorers on the test who will also be received into National Historical society at the banquet. This year there is a total of 39 students receiving honors because of several ties in the scores. These are, excluding the seven contestants, John Aegerter '63. John Bolm '63, Peg Demko '63. Frank Dennis '63, Kathie Ditton '63, Barney Franzen '63, Joan Hanke '63, Chuck Hawes '63, and John Howard '64.

Also Corinne Ignarski '63, Steven Jensen '63, James Johnston '63, Cliff Krainik '64, Robert Lindfors '63, Sue Luebbers '63, Sue Lehman '63, Kemet Lemke '63, Per Lundgren '63, Mary Lynn Mayer '63, Jackie Piraino '64, Roxanne Orloff '63, Debbie Pracht '64, Lucinda Pump '64, Francis Simon '63, Paul Strand '63, Karen Strom '63, Janice Wandrey '63, Al Waters '63, Donna Wiese '63, Ronald Woods '63, Lois Wright '63, and Tim Zidewski '64. These top 39 were chosen out of about 100 students originally taking the test.

All students presently taking American history and receiving either an "A" or a "B" as of last semester were urged to enter this competition. All others desiring to enter were allowed to do so.
