Sounds Abound Around
by John Frang

Hark! Hark! Can you hear them? They're the sounds of spring. How many of them have you heard?

- The snow melting through B-wing roof.

- The grass popping up outside the physics room.

- The water in your gym shoes squashing around your toes.

- Your (t)rusty scalpel cutting through your fetal pig in the biology lab.

- The homeroom teacher's voice as he announces the penalty for playing hookey.

- A monitor's pen writing out parking tickets.

- The screams of girls in co-ed gym classes.

- A janitor's trowel transplanting the weeds into the flower beds.

- Your neighbor's mind as he daydreams.

- Students flocking to get their Westerners.

- Ditto machines working overtime on the daily absentee lists.

- The sound of... Ho Hum... ah... spring fever.
