To some people, Dave MacDonald '62, may appear to be mainly "much madness". Most Maine West students at one time or another have noticed a well‑dressed, be‑spectacled senior, toting a well‑packed briefcase down the halls and chuckled a little at the different sight he presents. Yes, Dave, managing editor of the Westerner, is different, but not only in his appearance.
Among Dave's pet peeves are Brotherhood society members. "Why should they be rewarded for what they should be doing I anyway?" Censorship is also a great concern to Dave, especially when it closes the door on literature or some other form of the arts. Dave believes that huge masses of people in society and school must be educated and controlled. He hates being a number on an IBM card.
He is not really a non-conformist, but "just happens to do things differently - so be it. . .
Another more pensive side of Dave's personality is revealed in his sensitivity for the world about him, and his love of poetry.
He also strives to please certain people, such as his parents, teachers, and close friends.
Possessing a sense of humor, Dave has known when and how to use this gift. Also a brilliant conversationalist, he believes that, "what people need is more people to listen to them!"
Dave thinks that one of the finest things in the world for one to do is to help mold a person's mind into a sensitive, creative, and educated thing. It is for this reason he has decided to make teaching his career. He will enter Northern Illinois university this fall.

"Hey Judy! What have you thought up for page one?"
"Judy, is it okay if we put this on page two instead of page three?"
"Do we need an editorial this time, Judy?"
"Say Judy, would you please listen!!"
As editor‑in‑chief of the Westerner, Judy Kassnel remarked, "One of the things I learned at Maine West is how to carry on 12 conversations at once."
Judy, who was born on Friday the 13, finds it her bad luck never to have been a freshman. She transferred here in her junior year from East Rockford High school. Appearing on the TV program "Rebuttal" was one of her outstanding experiences this year.
This pretty, 5 foot 4 inch, blue‑eyed senior remarked that she loves to fly kites, go for walks, and sew. Besides being editor of the Westerner, Judy is a member of Student Council. Among other foods, her favorites are steak and candy. When asked about her pet peeves, Judy asserted that she didn't have any, except being called names, such as 'twerp.'
Plans for the future include three years at Milikin university in Decatur, Illinois, and then one year of internship at a local hospital. Judy plans to be a medical technician.
