Mom's Tasks Are 'Trying'
Why is it that the person who is so important to the healthy rearing of her children and to the smooth-running of her household is honored only one day each year? A mother is a person whose patience and emotions are tried and broken many times, but who is always willing to disregard her own feelings to comfort and consider the feelings of her family.
Her jobs are many, and what a task it would be to find a crew (yes - it would take more than one person!) to replace her. Usually though, when asked her occupation, she replies that she is just a housewife. The job of rearing children, keeping a house in order, planning meals, keeping a budget, pinching pennies to buy Suzie the new dress she is begging for, drying
babies' tears and diapers, humoring dad's temper, healing a wounded heart or hand, picking up after dad and the children, mending the broken iron and doorbell, getting the shopping done wisely, plus the washing and ironing is quite a job.
How many kids stop to think on Mother's day just what they are honoring Mom for? Not too many. Most kids buy her flowers or something and forget about it.
For a person who is so important to everyone, it seems that she should be honored everyday.
