Maine West's varsity golf team edged out Deerfield 179-180 last Tuesday to win by one stroke. Tim Richards led the stickmen with a 43. Doug Seagren, Ken Miller, and Mike Greene had scores of 45, 44, and 47 respectively.

Coach David Henry is enjoying a very successful season, winning 8 and losing only 3. Teams defeated are Leyden East twice, Deerfield twice, Barrington, Elgin, Niles West, and Prospect.

This Saturday May 12, the squad is hoping to take the district meet. On Tuesday May 15, West will host Oak Park before competing in the State meet on May 18 & 19.
