On Friday, June 8, Maine West seniors will receive their diplomas at the third annual commencement exercises. The ceremony will begin at 8 p.m. in the Maine East field house.
A fanfare composed for Maine West graduations by Mr. Jared Spears of the music department will officially begin the exercises. The processional will be played by the concert band under the direction of Mr. Robert Kuite and will include Meyerbeer's "Coronation March" and V erdi's "Grand March" from the opera "Aida."
The presentation of colors will be performed by a color guard of juniors Randy Burmeister, Rick DeKreek, Tom Prochaska, and Al Waters. The invocation will be given by the Rev. Allen H. Fedder of the Immanuel Lutheran church in Des Plaines.

Principal Herman L. Rider will introduce Senior class president John White who will give the welcome address and introduce the valedictorian and salutatorian, who will be John Saari and Gretchen Rider, respectively. Each will appear on the program as a speaker.
Following the commencement addresses, Dr. Earle W. Wiltse, Superintendent of the Maine high schools, will give the presentation of the class. The acceptance of the class will be given by Mr. Walter T. Craigle, president of the Board of Education. Board of Education members Mr. Craigle, Mr. Lommen D. Eley, Dr. Daniel H. Jacobsen, and Mr. William T. Newport will present the diplomas. Mr. Donald Anderson, Spanish teacher, and Mr. Harold Baer, physical education teacher will announce the graduates' names.
The recessional will include "Pomp and Circumstance" by Elgar and "Pomp and Chivalry" by Roberts.
