'Our Town' Cast Picked

Thornton Wilder's Our Town will be presented by the Senior class November 17 and 18 in the Maine West auditorium under the direction of Mr. Garth Boyer, head of the speech and drama department, and Mimi Foss '62, student director.

The cast for the play was chosen last week. Ken Cornelius as Mr. Webb, Kathy O'Grady as Emily Webb, Marie Rozenboom as Mrs. Webb, Gary Schlieckert as George Gibbs, Joy Staller as Mrs. Gibbs, Joe Waters as Doe Gibbs, Joe Mitchell as Stage Manager.

When asked about scenery, Mr. Boyer commented, "Scenery is only an aid to help set the mood of the play. One might consider the absence of scenery a

detriment to any play, but in Our Town a complicated set would interfere with the actors' ability to present the simple and eloquent message."

"Our Town contains humor, people, love, death, and universal truths," confirmed Mr. Boyer. Approximately 55‑65 students will be involved in the play."

Glenbrook High School, which is in the Interim League, is also presenting Our Town this year and plans to continue presenting this play every four years.

Rehearsals began Thursday, October 12, after school in the auditorium. The first dress rehearsal will be November 13.
