Niles West High School
Meet Our Interim Rivals

For Niles West this is the first year as a complete four year high school. Niles West was first opened three years ago with new additions made last year.

The Student Service organization, SSO, maintains order in the halls, cafeteria, and administration offices and supervises all study halls. Also rating high at Niles is the Science seminar which is a small select group of science‑minded students who delve into various topics beyond classroom depth. They have recently received national recognition including coverage in Reader's Digest.

Student Council, a small body meeting daily, has organized a student driving code, pep assemblies, chosen a school mascot, and maintains a school store. Melinda Lopin, exchange editor of Niles West's newspaper recently remarked, "Our school is so new that we have not developed too many traditions."

The Indians have excellent school teams participating in football, cross country, wrestling, swimming, gymnastics, basketball, baseball, track, and golf. Last year both their wrestling and baseball teams placed second in the entire state.
