Maine West's junior varsity has an impressive 2‑0 conference record, giving them first place in the Interim conference.
They squeaked by Proviso West 13‑12 in the mud. Ken Pinzke and Gary Kraft each made two good runs for touchdowns. Gary Kraft capitalized on an error in the backfield when he picked up the ball and ran around the end for the first TD of the day. Glenbard East was trampled 34‑0. Besides the five touchdowns scored, there were four others that were called back on penalties. Even Leroy "wrong‑way" Schiegel made a touchdown through the wrong side of the line.
In their non‑conference games, penalties played the important role. In both the losses to Waukegan and St. George the JV's were penalized over 150 yards. Scores were Waukegan 13‑0 and St. George 13‑7. The ball had been moved up to the St. George five yard line before the clock ran out to end the game. New Trier was downed 13‑7. The Indians were unscored upon before the West JV's reached them. New Trier didn't manage to score until the last quarter.

Sophs Break Even
The sophomores are 2‑2 in their conference. They lost a close one to Proviso West 12‑7. However, the ponies made up for this loss when they crushed Glenbard East 18‑6. Cal Lewis made the outstanding play of the day, a 60‑yard run for a TD.
Frosh Undefeated
The freshmen are undefeated in five games. They walked over Deerfield 27‑0, Glenbard East 34‑6, and Niles West, supposedly the toughest team in the conference, was beaten 18‑0. Proviso West was also added to their string of casualties. In conference they are 4‑0.
