Striving for their third consecutive Interim League victory, Maine West's varsity Warriors will try to bring their record to four wins and two defeats tonight as they battle Glenbrook who will also enter the game with a two and two conference record. In the last three contests the gridders lost to Glenbard East 7‑0, but they came back against Niles West and Deerfield, beating them 13‑6 and 45‑6, respectively.
The first half of the Glenbard East game went scoreless, with each team getting the ball five times. Near the end of the third quarter, Glenbard got the ball on their own 13 yard line, kept driving, and scored t h e only touchdown of the game early in the fourth quarter. Maine almost tied the score on the last play of the game when Dan Humay threw a long pass to Ray Leonardson, who was tackled just four yards short of the goal line.
The first half of the Niles West game didn't look too good for the Warrior eleven. Neither team could do much with the ball the first time they got it, but then Maine punted and Niles ran the ball all the way back to the one yard line, where they scored on the next play. During the rest of the half, neither team was able to score, although each got the ball five times.

In the second half, after an exchange of punts, the Warriors got back in the game as Al Klehr ran around the end for the touchdown and Bob Lorentz kicked the extra point. In the fourth quarter Maine West scored again as Klehr ran five yards for the touchdown, On Niles' first play after the kick‑off, Ray Leonardson intercepted a pass, but the gun sounded before Maine could do anything with the ball.
In the first quarter against
Deerfield, it took Maine but eight plays to score two touchdowns and one extra point for 13 points, the first being on a three‑yard run by Klehr and the second on a reverse with Klehr handing off to Leonardson. In the second quarter it took Maine only a few plays to score again, making the score 19‑0. Deerfield came back in that quarter, though, and scored their first touchdown of this season on a 45‑yard pass play.
In the third quarter, West did the only scoring on a 30‑yard pass play from Humay to Leonardson after recovering a fumble from Deerfield. Maine completely dominated the fourth quarter, scoring with a t w o yard plunge by Riemma, a 40‑yard pass play from Humay to Schwenke, and a seven‑yard run by Humay. With the successful conversions of the last two touchdowns, the game ended with a final score of 45‑6.
