Mitchell Stars In 'Our Town'

Hear ye! Hear ye! The time? In the late spring of 1901. The place? A street near the Gibbs' home in Grover's Corners, New Hampshire.

This will be the opening scene that the audience will see as Maine West's Senior class presents its annual Fall play, Our Town, in the auditorium, Friday and Saturday, November 17 and 18.

The audience should be prepared for surprises. Our Town deserts the currently popular patterns and brings genuine novelty to the stage. The stage manager, the lead of the play, becomes an on-stage director who can shift time back and forth as easily as he shifts the scene with a wave of his hand. This play has no stage sets.

Only a few simple props are used. The audience will not lose its bearings, however, for the stage manager will call attention to every detail.

The play is being directed by Mr. Garth Boyer, drama and speech teacher. Student director is Mimi Foss. The cast includes Joe Mitchell, stage manager; Joe Waters, Dr. Gibbs; Joy Staller, Mrs. Gibbs; Gary Schlieckert, George Gibbs; Ken Cornellus, Mr. Webb; Marie Rozenboom, Mrs. Webb; and Kathy O'Grady, Emily Webb.

"Tickets are now on sale in the cafeteria, and at Maria Schaefer's at 75 cents for students and $1 for adults," declared Gloria Jenkins, ticket committee chairman.
