THE PROSPECT KNIGHTS lost their first football game last week after having been undefeated for 18 consecutive games.
A SALUTE SHOULD be given to the Maine West band for doing an outstanding job at the games this year. They are a bunch of loyal troopers who work hard to add a colorful touch to the games.
LAST SATURDAY WAS a day for celebration, as all of West's football teams beat East Leyden's by taking four out of five games on shutouts. The JV's allowed them one TD.
THE JV SQUAD had the services of Jim "Marshall" Delhin for punting at Saturday's game. He had been sidelined with a bad knee. Volker "Chester" Engel is still out of action with a leg injury.
INTRAMURAL WEIGHT‑LIFTING is open to all boys on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting November 7. Because of lack of participation, this activity was postponed to the above date.
THE FROSH‑SOPH cross country team finished in ninth place at the interim meet. Runners who finished were Meyer, 37; Schlegel, 39; Abbott, 42; Suszke, 57; Alfini, 60; Biggs, 62; and Boyce, 73.
TONIGHT IS DAD'S Night at the football game, when students get a chance to meet the dads of the football players.
WITH A 3‑3 RECORD, the sophs blanked East Leyden, 14‑0 last week. John Gabbert starred in offensive play. Don Witte grabbed a loose ball to set up the second TD. Cal Lewis scored the only TD on a 42 yard run against GB who won 13‑7 two weeks ago.
UNDER HEAD COACH Ed Atkinson, the frosh gridmen have compiled a 6‑0‑1 record for the season. Chuck Curren, Jim Chichowski, and Bob Kunkle's services have contributed a good deal to the team's success.
