Juniors Take City Officials' Jobs for
One Hectic Week
Participating in one of the most exciting and enlightening events of the year are 23 U.S. history students from Maine West who became junior officials for Youth Appreciation week along with the students from St. Patrick's academy, Notre Dame School for Boys, and Maine East.
John Aegerter '63, Robert Ayres '63, Beth Bergdolt '63, John Bolm '63, Randy Deckwerth '63, Kathie Ditton '63, Michael Enriquez '63, Diane Fisher '63, David Grogan '63, Carole Hanks '63, Les Helfers '63, Paula Humphreys '63, Susan Lane '63, Kemet Lemke '63, Sue Luebbers '63, Richard Marecek '63, Mary Lynn Mayer '63, Andrea Musser '63, Roxanne Orloff '63, Maryann Sanzone '63, Zella Torchia '63, Frank Vaia '63, and Frank Defalco '63, began the adventurous week on Saturday,
November 11, at 9 am. when they were welcomed at City Hall by Mayor Herbert Behrel and installed into office by Judge Sengstock. Also on the agenda was the Armistice day services and a luncheon at the Elk's club, followed by a visit to the city departments.
Conducting the City Council meeting Monday at 8 p.m. was another honor endowed upon the junior officials. Excused from school on Wednesday at 8 am., the junior officials toured Chicago's City Hall and County building, followed by a tour and luncheon at the county jail.
