Debate Team To Be On TV
Evanston will be the site of the Debate team's next debate, to be held tomorrow, November 18.
Among the nine returning varsity and 25 frosh-soph debaters are Paula Humphreys '63, Carol Barrett '63, Craig Seitz '62, and Joe Waters '62, of the varsity and Bonnie Odden '64, Richard Giles '63, Joan Hanke '63, and Carl Jefferson '63, of the subvarsity. The frosh-soph debaters are divided into eight teams which alternate to gain experience. With teams competing to see which will debate in the tournaments, the sponsors feel they will be building to higher standards.
TO BE ON WBBM
Maine West's debaters were among the 24 teams selected from 42 in an elimination tournament to determine who would be on WBBM's TV program Rebuttal this winter, Saturday, January 27. Thornton South will furnish the affirmative argument to the question. Resolved: That the Federal minimum wage average should be extended. Also appearing on this program will be Westerner editor, Judy Kassnel '62, who will give an informative talk on Maine West supplemented with pictures.
