Highlighting the social calendar of the foreign language clubs is the second annual Christmas party on December 19 in the cafeteria at 3:10 p.m.
Each club will sing carols in its respective language and also enact a skit. Starting off the Latin club will present the Christmas story in tableau. Participating will be Carol Harper as Mary; Maureen Quinn, the angel; Bob Reinhardt, Joseph; Kay Klatz, Pat Vogel, and Jan Cartwright, shepherds, Allen Miller, Don Rodgers, and Henry Schank, three wise men; Chester Wysinski and Claude Stewart, Roman soldiers; and Betty Gano, Jean Dourlain, and Denny Rapuce, choir members. A parade representing the ancient festival of Saturnalia will feature Jan Bacher, Donna Batdorf, Linda Holt, Christina Sparrow, Mary Wright, Joyce Humay, Jean Higgins, and Denise Lap. Dan Humay will read from the Latin New Testament.

The old Spanish custom of breaking the pinata will be the feature of the Spanish club's part. Russian club will perform a native folk dance and sing "Silent Night" in Russian. Performers will be Lois Wright, Pat Martin, Marianela Jones, Kay Hauck, Carol Kristen, Anita Steinert, Jim Mack, Bob Sherwin, Jim Bryne, Paul Sherwood, Steve Ross, and Jerry Nolan.
A German version of the "Three Billygoats Gruff" will be given by the German club, while the French club will sing carols in French.
"The party is for language club members only," informed Mrs. Valerie Hackett, faculty chairman of the affair. Mrs. Hackett will provide the traditional wassail bowl as part of the refreshments. "Last year's party was a tremendous success, and we hope to make this year's even better. It should become a part of the tradition of Maine West."
