Welcome, Christmas

BY Gayle Bauman

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas!
Rushing crowds with bulging shopping bags
Crunch through snow past gaudy store windows
Strung with lights and filled with Christmas tags.

Jolly Santas pace the glistening streets;
Tinkling bells keep tune with running feet
Carols ring through town the scene's complete.
Welcome, Christmas, to the city.

Christmas, merry Christmas!
Spicy tree bedecked with loving care
Fills the house with a warm and cheery glow
Which presents, gaily wrapped, are sure to share.

Children think of Santa coming soon;
Bells and carols add their special tune;
Smells of Christmas dinner fill the room.
Welcome, Christmas, to the home.

Christmas, special Christmas.
Candles flicker in a silent church
Flecking light upon a manger scene
For which three wisemen long ago did search.

Silent prayers of adoration flood the soul;
Welcome, Christmas, to our hearts.
