The holiday season's a time of joy,
When little tots get Christmas toys.
They tumble and fall from the top of the stairs,
And hug each other like little bears.
Then scramble and crawl to the base of the tree,
They look for the presents they hope they'll see.
A little toy train that belches forth smoke.
"A little rag doll!" cries the girl with a choke.
Santa's been good agreed by all,
As laughs and shouts ring through the hall.
More presents they spy under the tree.
That little red wagon he's wanted since three.
And there's the puppy she saw in the shop.
Because of his hair, she named him "Mop."
They race through the house with arms akimbo.
All bad thoughts chased into "limbo."
Atop the stairs their parents stand,
Patiently waiting, hand in hand.
Two wise people for staying away.
For if they had not, they'd regret it all day.
