New Coach Likes Football

As a instructor in a high school for the first time, Mr. Fred C. Buettler is now teaching social science and two gym classes here at Maine West. Mr. Buettler attended high school at Maine East, where he lettered in football, wrestling, and track. In football, he played fullback under Mr. Olson. The outstanding game in which he appeared was against York high school when he scored four touchdowns. It was then, while participating in athletics, that he became interested in teaching and coaching.

Mr. Buettler attended Iowa State college where he again played on the football team. He also went to Iowa State university where he taught lifesaving, gymnastics, swimming, and general administration.

He was also in charge of the intramural athletic program, which took in a total of 5,000 students. Having an advanced degree in school administration and guidance, Mr. Buettler is interested in following one of these lines.

Athletics, especially golf, provide some of his spare time hobbies. Owning a pilot's license, Mr. Buettler, when he isn't teaching or participating in sports, pursues another hobby of flying.

Mr. Buettler resides in Des Plaines with his wife and one child.
