Willie Sparks West Spirit

A flash of blue, gold, and white, accompanied by the jingling of bells, announced the debut of Willie the Warrior on December 1, when the Cagers played host to Wheaton at the Maine East fieldhouse.

In reply to the way he thinks a mascot will promote more school spirit, Bob Engle '62, the new Willie, stated, "After I develop skills such as tumbling, Indian dancing, and yell leading, I hope to promote more school spirit."

Willie the Warrior's costume consists of a full headress, a band of bells around each wrist, blue and white satin trousers, a golden breechcloth, and buckskin moccasins.
