A weasel is small, quickmoving, slender, aggressive, and crafty. These terms well describe this week's warrior, Rick "Weasel" Warnicke, '62.
"Rick is one of the best competitors I have ever had play for me," declares Mr. Gaston Freeman, varsity basketball mentor.
"Weasel" has been the sparkplug of West's varsity cagers for the past two seasons. Although he isn't too tall (5' 8") he is still quite successful due to his quickness and hustle. Rick doesn't limit his athletic endeavors to basketball alone, as he is the centerfielder of the Warrior diamond squad.
When asked how he aquired his strange nickname he explained, "My freshman year at Maine East, for some mysterious reason, one of my teachers called me 'The little weasel' and the name stuck!" Rick is a firm believer in the theory which depicts left‑handed people as superior beings.
On his list of favorites he includes: lobster (whole) as his number one food, hunting and fishing, along with athletics, as hobbies, and "Sweet Georgia Brown" as his favorite song. Strangers who call him "Weasel" and the constant complaining of a certain senior called "Butch" are the only peeves Rick has.
After graduation this brown-haired, brown‑eyed senior plans to further his education at Wabash college, Indiana. He will study medicine in order to prepare himself for a career as a veterinarian.
