Georgann Wins Award

Georgann Percival '62, is the school winner in the 1962 Betty Crocker Search for the American Homemaker of Tomorrow. She achieved the highest score in the examination on h o m e making knowledge and attitudes taken by 45 senior girls at Maine West.

The test was given to more than 400,000 senior girls i n about 12,870 high schools in the United States on December 5, 1961.

As the school winner, Georgann will be honored at a recognition tea when she will be presented with the distinctive Homemaker of Tomorrow pin.

She will become eligible for the title of State Homemaker of Tomorrow. Her test paper will be judged in comparison with the papers of all the other school winners in Illinois, and the girl chosen as winner will be awarded a $1,000 college scholarship. The state runner‑up will receive a $500 scholarship.

In addition, the state winner and her sponsor will join other state winners in an expense paid tour of New York City, Washington, D. C., and Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.

The national Homemaker of Tomorrow will be named at the end of 1962. Her scholarship will be raised to $5,000 with the second, third and fourth place winners receiving scholarships of $4,000, $3,000 and $2,000, respectively.

Georgann's career plans lead in the direction of professional home economics. She is planning to attend Southern Illinois university in the fall.
