Mr. Boyd Melvin, a student teacher from Northwestern university in Evanston, is a welcome addition to our fine faculty.

Mr. Melvin, who hails from Dixon, Illinois, is presently teaching in West's Social Science department. He will teach in the U.S. History and History of Civilization classes under the direction of Mr. Eric Edstrom, history teacher. At Northwestern he is enrolled in the School of Education and will graduate this spring.

For the past three years he has played offensive tackle on the Wildcat football squad. This past season he was elected by his cohorts as the team's most valuable player. Mr. Melvin was elected to the Big Ten's scholastic all‑star team. He also played in the annual "Blue‑Gray" post season football classic.

He related that he would like very much to continue his football career in the professional ranks, possibly with the Houston Oilers of the American Football league. Mr Melvin will be teaching here at Maine West until mid‑March.
