Wrestlers Face E. Leyden Tonite

With injuries and inexperience hampering the West matmen, they will try to break the jinx when they meet East Leyden on the home mats tonight at 7 p.m. A good showing of Maine backers will be needed to help the grapplers overcome the rugged Eagles, always a tough team.

In its last meet Coach Carlini's squad lost a close one to Niles West 24‑20. Dan Hansen '62, outwitted his opponent 4‑1 at 112. Pedro Martinez '62, 127, Don Clark '64, 133, and Irv Geisler '64, 138, won 4‑0, 6‑2, and 3‑2, respectively. Ray Leonardson '62, also decisioned his worthy Niles opponent.

The Westmen downed Proviso 60‑0 in a freak episode whereby Proviso thought that because they had wrestled the day before they didn't have to make weights. Glenbrook trounced the Warriors in the next meet 31‑13.

Right after vacation, the Warriors walloped Deerfield 34‑6. The following day a meet with Niles East was cancelled after they didn't appear. The following Friday, Prospect's Knights beat West in a close match 21‑16. This puts West's Interim record at 5‑5.
