"I definitely feel we need more pep in council, but we also need student support," proclaimed Pat Ritter '63, candidate for Maine West's Student Council secretary.

"Willie," as she is more commonly known, keeps busy by participating in class council, GAA, gym leader program, and several clubs. She was the vice-president of her class for two years and has maintained a B grade average.

Serving as chairman of the inter-club council is one of Pat's duties as a Student Council representative. During her three years on council, she has attended many conventions and hospitality nights. Pat has also been a Brotherhood society member for three years and has served as an officer of this organization.

"Willie is a spirited worker and an enthusiastic leader," recently commented Bev Pawelko '62, who is Pat's campaign manager. "She sticks with a job till it is done. She has the personality and drive needed to live up to the high standard Maine West's Student Council secretary must have."

Sheriff's Remarks: Tom' s nicknamed "The Bomb" because he wants to explode Student Council into a bigger and better administration.

Art Behn, presidential candidate, has served on Freshman class council and Boys' club council and is now co-chairman of the Student Council Honor Study committee. In these capacities Art has gained valuable organizational experience. However, he has not limited himself to just one phase of school life. He has found time to participate in the school's athletic program, by lettering in swimming during his sophomore year. During this time he has also maintained a "B" plus average.

"Events this past year have shown," says Art, "that for the first time, students expressed a definite desire to be better represented in student government. Structural changes in the Council are the only way this can be accomplished."

To reach this end, Art is completely behind the Constitutional Revision committee. He intends to continue his efforts to make the Student Council a more democratic organization when he becomes president. His past actions have proved his good intentions. In the recent debate over opening the vote on the foreign exchange student to the student body, Art did not sit idle nor did he abstain from voting. He voted "for" the student body.
