Dear Editor,
Election week activities at one time were hectic, gay, and loads of fun. Combos played in the halls, kids put on crazy skits, and almost everyone really campaigned for their candidate. What's happened to the fun of election week? The administration has set certain limits, due to the fact that we have a new school and that certain student privileges were abused. But why should these few things take the fun out of election week? Why don't we get out to campaign, register, and vote! We certainly aren't going to let a minority group decide this election as we did with the foreign exchange issue, are we? Just because we can't ride bicycles down the hall for skits doesn't mean we can't put a little school spirit into our election activities, does it? Of course not! So let's get out and campaign! Register and VOTE! . . . and let's have FUN while we're doing these things!!

Dear Editor,
The theme "Brotherhood and Us" does not imply simply fostering the spirit of Brotherhood within our own school or family. In fact, this year Brotherhood Society hopes all West Mainites can think of brotherhood on a wider and higher plane than that which surrounds us. Brotherhood, although difficult to define, is more than an outward show of friendliness.
This week, Brotherhood Week, will provide speech and editorial topics, poster and campaign titles, tags, and even citations, but after all the rah‑rah and good words, will things go on as usual? Will all that Maine West gains from the week be scattered complaints about who was elected to Brotherhood Society? We hope not, for the purpose of the week would have been missed.
