Maine West's Warrior gymnasts split a triangular meet at Wheaton last week, as they tromped the Tigers 74‑57 while taking an 82‑49 loss from undefeated Willowbrook.
The musclemen took five out of six first places against Wheaton, with high‑bar again proving to be the weak spot. Bill Downing captured a first on trampoline and added to his long streak of firsts in tumbling. Sal Defalco downed his competition on side horse and rings, and Dave Scully came up with top honors on parallel bars. Against Willowbrook, however, the Warriors got only one first, from Downing on tumbling.

Coach Drain's aerialists didn't fare as well against York as they were downed 57‑72 on January 30. Behind Dcfalco's first, side‑horse was the only event won by Maine, but Downing remained undefeated on tumbling.
The Warriors were stopped by Prospect 72 1/2 - 59 1/2 in a home contest on January 26. The Knights, although not able to halt Downing's winning streak, managed to capture first in all other events.
The gymnasts travel to Glenbrook this Saturday to meet the Spartans at 10 a.m.
