Matmen Win At Deerlield

The Warriors wrestled Oak Park on Tuesday, January 23, but were beaten by their Huskie opponents 26‑11‑Maine won only three bouts and tied one. The grapplers played host to the Eagles of East Leyden Friday, January 26, but lost again 25‑15.

After these two defeats, the Warriors bounced back by beating Deerfield Friday, February 2, 27-19. In the 95-lb. division, a freshman substitute was wrestled in place of the varsity 95-pounder but was beaten

by his Deerfield foe. At 103, Tom Lenhart was pinned, and at 112, Jim Keller lost 4-1. Dan Hansen pinned his opponent at 120, and Pedro Martinez won by default at 127.

At 133, Don Clark won 5‑1 as Irv Geisler won by forfeit. Maine West forfeited at 145 while Al Mentgen won at 154. Keith Zolla won at 165, 5‑4, while Jan Anderson, 180, and Bob Petkus, heavyweight, both won their meets.
