"Let's make like the trees and leave" is an exclamation often heard from a browneyed, brown‑haired senior named Steve Bonaguidi.
Among other things, Steve is Traffic Court judge and a member of the Student Council Service committee. His varied interests include hunting, fishing, riding in a '47 Chrysler Crown Imperial owned by Jim Huard '62, cars, pizza, ravioli, spaghetti, and a certain senior from Prospect Heights named Judy McGuire. Steve explains "I'm just an outdoor boy at heart."
Future plans for Steve include Loyola university's medical school and a degree in medicine. His favorite subjects are science, social science, and English.
When asked about Maine West, Steve reflected, "The student body could and should be more active in spirit, participation, and cheering at the games. Also, my pet peeve is a person who is constantly criticizing our country or an organization when he isn't even trying to do anything to improve it."

As his most memorable moment, Steve remembers the changeover from Maine East to Maine West and from shifts to a full day. He recalled, "The biggest difference was in buildings. I think one of the nicest things about the change was the difference in the amount of students. At Maine East, I had a last period study with about 200 to 300 students in the room. To avoid excessive crowding of the halls when the bell rang, the teacher would let us out about three minutes before the bell rang. Even though I had a seat near the door, I nearly got trampled getting out. It was literally like a herd of elephants."
Steve related that he likes his senior year best, but that the freshman year is also important because "That's the year you find out what high school's all about and what makes it tick. It's a first‑time experience."
Ambitious Steve has a "sort of" part time job with the city of Des Plaines. When a snowfall is excessive, he helps out by plowing the streets.
