Girls Win Out In Big Exam

For the first time in the history of the annual American Legion Constitution contest, four girls hold the majority of the seven contestants to take the final exam.

Approximately 67 people took the preliminary objective test given Friday, March 2. The seven highest scorers will take the public oral exam on Thursday, March 29, in the Maine West library. It will be given by five members of the Des Plaines American Legion, post 36.

The exam will be about 10 minutes long for each and will cover his interpretation and understanding of the Constitution. The prize is a $100 scholarship to the college of the winner's choice.

This was the first year that all Maine West students were allowed to enter, including those who do not live in Des Plaines.
