11 Take Part In Festival

Participating in the Interim Association Music festival, to be held on Saturday, March 24, at Glenbard East High school, will be more than 100 students from the Maine West music department. The combined band, orchestra, and chorus concert will include 11 other schools from the Interim association.

Highlighting the concert will be three well‑known guest directors. Dr. Sylvan Ward, professor of music and chairman of the music department of Chicago Teacher's college, will conduct the orchestra. Mr. William D. Revelli, conductor of bands at the University of Michigan, will direct the band. Mr. Leland B. Sateren, chairman of the department of music and director of the choir at Augsburg college, Minnesota, will lead the chorus.

"This is an excellent opportunity for students of music to work under well‑known directors" commented Mr. Robert Kuite, music teacher at Maine West.

Rehearsals will be held at Glenbard East on Friday, and on Saturday afternoon the concert will be presented. The program will include such pieces as "The Blue and the Gray," by Clare Grundman; "Hear Me Oh Lord," by Knut Nystedt; and "Victory at Sea," by Richard Rogers. The band and chorus will combine to do "Look at This Day." The orchestra will play "Now Thank We All Our God."

The other high schools participating will be Prospect, Willowbrook, East Leyden, West Leyden, Proviso West, Niles, Glenbrook, and J. Sterling Morton.
