Minor Sports Important, Too!

What is the matter with the students of Maine West? Don't they realize there are more than two sports in which the Warriors participate? Evidently not! Football and basketball are not the only two sports our athletic program sponsors. There are eight other sports in which interscholastic competition is held. The boy who participates in these sports feels they are just as important as football or basketball. The students SHOULD feel the same way.

In the past year Maine West has collected three championships while competing in the Interim conference. The cross country, baseball, and track teams all have brought home trophies.

Much to the discredit of the student body, the attendance at these games and meets is very poor.

How long will this situation continue to plague our school and stamp out the fine traditions Maine has established and been noted for? Only the students can determine this. The practice for spring sports has already begun. The boys participating in these sports deserve and need support. Let's not let them down. So come on Maine West, get on the ball, it's time you show your appreciation of the efforts of your fellow students. Let's get with it!
