Maine West trackmen will tomorrow morning board the bus to the Morton West fieldhouse to compete in the first Interim Indoor Conference meet. The Warriors will be relying on Ray Leonardson, Vic Oakley, Lee Wolf, and both relay teams to do much of their scoring. Since this is the first indoor conference meet, all results will establish a record.
The Warrior string of 32 consecutive dual‑meet wins was broken by Evanston two weeks ago in a photo finish, the final score 50 1/2 to 49 1/2. Competing without three of their top men, the Westmen were definitely handicapped. Rick Grenke and Tom Morton started the meet off with a first and second in the high hurdles. Grenke then took a second on the low hurdles. Leroy Schiegel pulled a second in the 50‑yard dash, and Wolf came in first in the 880‑yard run. The 4‑lap relay: was lost in a close race, but Leonardson and Oakley teamed up to score a first and second in the 440‑yard dash.

At this time the Warriors were enjoying a comfortable lead over the Wildkits. Then the boom fell as the North Shore cindermen took all three places in the broad jump. Wagner could only draw a third in the mile run, while Dick Samlow and Chuck Weil threw their way to a second and third in the shot‑put. The mile relay temporarily slowed Evanston. Dan Rowe and Bob Tatge tied in the high jump, while Paul Erickson placed third. Larry Pintuck vaulted to a second place and Scott Taylor came in third.
A second defeat resulted last week as the Glenbrook cindermen dropped Coach Jobst's squad 64‑36. Al Klehr leaped to first in the broad jump. Oakley and Wolf combined a first and second in both the 440 and 880, but West's sprinters and shotputters were completely blanked. The Warriors managed a third in the quarter mile, high and low hurdles, and the mile.
The frosh‑soph tracksters, sporting a 5‑1 record, will also enter the competition at Morton Saturday. They are led by Bob Biggs, Burny Braun, Schlegel, Tatge, and Bud Zielin
