That person you may have seen in uniform directing traffic is Mr. Russell Deards, the school's security officer.

Duties of the security officer include protecting the cars in the parking lots and seeing that the traffic flows smoothly.

When asked about his job, Mr. Deards said, "I am happy to report that I have received 100 per cent co-operation from everyone." Police work has been the

hobby of Mr. Deards, and he has pursued every type of education connected with police work.

Mr. Deards was born in Milwaukee and now resides in Chicago. He is married and has two married children. He is a member of the Illinois Police association and a lieutenant in the Fox Valley Police reserves. Mr. Deards is also a member of the Civil Defense and a qualified first aid worker.
