Fellowship of the Orient, the pride of Europe, and the inborn beauty of Alaska made impressions upon 10 Maine West teachers this past summer.
"I was concerned about the narrowness of the roads in Europe, "remarked Mr. Bailey. "In some places only one car could pass at a time." He visited the United Kingdom, France, and Italy.
Hong Kong and the Orient were visited by Miss Mitchell, who said, "The people of the Orient are very friendly and apologetic." She was also very much impressed with their customs.
"Believe me, Alaska is still frontier country," emphasized Mr. Scofield. "Along the streets there would be beautiful buildings and then rows of log cabins. The roads were fine (where there was a road). A 700‑mile detour proved very discouraging." Mr. Scofield was making his second trip to Alaska by automobile. He was attending the state university.

Germany was the scene of visiting for three of the language teachers. The fourth member of this department, Mr. Barringer, got to see South America by receiving a language scholarship for advanced education.
According to Mr. Curtis, "The Germans consider the Americans a happy‑go‑lucky people." Among the stops on his trip were Munich, Berlin, and Wolfenbuettel.
Mrs. Hackett was touring France and renewing old acquaintances. It seems that she fell in love with the beauty of this romantic country.
Students of these teachers will undoubtedly profit from these travelling experiences.
