Teachers Like Painting, Cats

Painting, sculpturing, and swimming rate high with Miss Dawn Butler, newest member of the Girls' Physical Education department.

Originally from Bloomington, Illinois, Miss Butler received her bachelor's degree in art from the University of Illinois and her masters degree in physical education from Illinois State Normal university.

For her masters thesis she arranged a complete water ballet show which included lighting, choreography, and direction. I When she started teaching, she had the students put the show on. She is now sponsor of the Aquiana club.

Miss Butler recently fulfilled a long time desire when she bought a red Corvette convertible.

She previously taught in Hawaii, at Glenbrook, and at Maine East.

Napoleon and Ceasar are not only historical figures, but also two Siamese cats belonging to Mr. Dan Farris, mathematics teacher.

Originally from Laurel, Mississippi, he spent three years in the army, stationed in Germany. He attended intelligence school for six months where he studied Russian. He later translated Russian messages into English for the U. S. government.

Mr. Farris likes to work around the house and this summer remodeled his whole house, including the plumbing.

He has attended Bowdoin, Western Illinois, and San Jose State colleges.

Mr. Farris, who is married and has a baby girl, has previously taught at Morton East and West high schools.
