Clubbing Around
Boat Club Plans Regatta Sunday, Sept. 23

BOAT CLUB

Not to be outdone by the International Cup yachting events on the East coast, Maine West's Boat club is sponsoring a regatta, this Sunday, September 23 at 1 p.m. The event will be at Lake Park on Howard street in Des Plaines.

Sailing races will be featured. All boats are eligible and anyone is welcome according to the club sponsor, Mr. Richard Carlini, physical education instructor.

To enter the races, all skippers must be registered with Doug Blewitt '64, whose telephone number is 824‑7837. A trophy will be awarded to the winner.

HOME ECONOMICS

Barbara Conroy, president; Linda Gyssler, vice president; Maureen Carison, secretary; and Mary Jo Korner, treasurer, all juniors, are the officers of the Home Economics club.

On September 20, the first meeting of the Home Economics club was held. The highlight of the meeting was a movie shown by Miss Wilma Mitchell, home economics teacher, of her trip to Japan. Refreshments were then served.

The meetings are open to all students. The dues are 75 cents a year or 50 cents a semester. A program or meeting is held once a month, which is usually in the social room. At these meetings outside speakers are featured.

"The Home Economics club," as Mrs. Marian Pedersen, sponsor, asserted, "has an interest for all girls. Fashion shows, different foods, and sewing are some of the features."

TRI‑S

Tri‑S club, sponsored by Miss Lois Kapel, is one of the most active clubs around school.

Club activities include various field trips, an annual "Care Drive", and "Taffy Sale", and quite a few parties.

The first meeting was Wednesday, September 19, in A‑214. Tri‑S welcomes all students.

Officers of the club are Barb Sigalove '64, president; Jill DuClos '64, secretary‑treasurer; and Sharon Geach '64, society historian.

If you like to visit unusual and interesting places and enjoy having a good time, then Tri‑S is the club for you!
